Axis Communications
Axis supplies network cameras and associated video software. Its range includes different camera formats and imaging options for different surveillance requirements.
For example, the Q1659 combines Axis network video technology with Canon imaging hardware and interchangeable lenses. Our review explores that particular model in practical use.
Why we have chosen Axis for the network
We have chosen Axis hardware to run our public safety camera network because, in our experience, the cameras are well built and can offer strong value for the capabilities we need.
For us, value is about the complete camera and its intended job: useful image detail, appropriate zoom, construction, installation requirements and the price of the equipment available to us.
In some of the options we have considered, Axis equipment has offered a more capable specification at a lower price than alternatives. That is our purchasing experience, rather than a claim that every Axis camera is cheaper or better than every competing model.
The right choice still depends on the individual model, condition, lens, accessories and installation. Our reviews explain both the benefits we find and the drawbacks that could affect that decision.
What “chosen” means: Axis is our selected hardware brand for the public safety network. This describes our own equipment decision; it does not claim that Axis sponsors USCN, supplies it under an official partnership, or endorses these reviews.
